Riverside Cemetery is located just West of the Little White River and two miles North of Losantville, Indiana. Losantville is a small, rural community in Randolph County with a history tied to the early development of railroads and its unique name, which is derived from Cincinnati, Ohio's original name (Losantiville) . The town was first known as Hunts Cross Roads and was platted in 1851. The name Losantville was adopted later, and a post office was established in 1854. Losantville played a part in Randolph County's prosperity during the period before and after the Civil War, thanks to the railroads that were established during that time.
The original section of land for the cemetery was purchased May 15, 1896 from Christian H. Leeka and Sidney A. Leeka at a cost of $320. An addition was purchased June 16, 1941 from Clifford E. Johnson and Oval D. Johnson at a cost of $626. A 2nd addition was purchased November 23, 1998 from William M. Golliher and Anna Jean Golliher at a cost of $27,524.
The earliest burials at Riverside are marked by stones for Edwin (1879), Harley (1878), and Allen (1879) Franks. These were followed by burials of infant Hunt twins (1879-1880), children of Edward (1932) and Mary (1930) Hunt.
